Our “healthcare“ system in America has been long criticized for its lack of emphasis on preventing chronic disease through lifestyle interventions and focusing efforts on pills and procedures. This relates to the current reimbursement model. Simply put, there is no money in healthy people and prevention of chronic disease. This model needs to change and the people must demand that change.
Science shows that a vast majority of chronic diseases are preventable and even reversible with lifestyle medicine. Despite the poor reimbursement, these dedicated physicians/APNs focus on lifestyle as the primary treatment for their patients and will be walking/running alongside Spring Into Health 5K participants and/or giving presentations after the race:
One of the world’s top cardiologists and professor of cardiology at Wayne State University, Dr. Joel Kahn has treated thousands of acute heart attacks during his career. He’d like all that to stop. He’d like to prevent ALL future heart attacks by breaking through to the public to educate and inspire a new holistic lifestyle. Now is the time to focus on educating the public to eat clean, sweat clean and apply cutting edge science to their lifestyle.
Come hear Dr. Kahn on April 27th, 2019 as he shares what he's learned regarding using lifestyle medicine to prevent and reverse chronic disease!
